Sending
of pharmaceuticals
and small medical equipments The first action of NIRINA was to collect
pharmaceuticals and send them to the free health center in Ambohinaorina. The medicines must be packaged in their box
with their leaflet, and being one year above end of shelf-life.
Regularly, and when
pharmaceuticals are in a sufficient amount, we
make a sending through Aviation Sans Frontières. So, in 2002, 19
parcels, that is a total of 140
kg, have been sent, mainly composed of
pharmaceuticals, and also containing a water
filter, needles and syringes, and drip equipment.
In 2003, 30 parcels
(240 kg) are sent, containing
pharmaceuticals, powder milk for babies and
medical equipment (tensiometer, thermometers,
otoscope specula).
In 2004, 45 parcels
of medecine (360 kg) make the
trip. And maybe more by the end of the year ...

Sending
of clothes, toys, ...
Malagasy people live extremely
poorly. That is why NIRINA association decided to
also send essential items: powder baby milk,
clothes, kitchen utensils, exercise books, pens,
pencils, toys,... You can forward us clothes,
toys, notebooks, etc (see our addresses) - we collect all these things -, we
will send them to Madagascar, where they will be
useful! We also collect unused whool balls, some
of the Association members can knit layette and
pullovers! |
 |
 |
These basic items are conveyed
by containers, but this is long and expensive.
Another way to send them to Madagascar, less
expensive but very fast and efficient, is to
entrust the parcels to travellers who go to there,
within the limits of the authorized weight! If
you plan to visit this beautiful country, think
about us, we will surely entrust you a few
products... Go and read Laurent Portier and
Philippe Tronet testimony,
they did it! Thanks to them! All the donations are locally delivered
and distributed in the villages by the health
center, the women promotion center,... .

In 2002, 4 Christmas
parcels were sent, enclosing toys and
titbits. In 2003, sending
of 30 parcels, enclosing clothes
and covers.
In 2004, a 400-kg container
of surgical equipment (surgery fields,
breathing equipment, drip equipment), layette and
children clothes, school stationery and powder
baby milk, left in December, with the help of the
association "la Voie lactée de Compostelle".
Moreover, Laurent Portier and Philippe Tronet
have conveyed by plane 4 parcels (40
kg of clothes, exercise books, pens,
...) taking the opportunity of their travel to
Madagascar.

Selling of Malagasy handicrafts
Regularly, the
center of women promotion provides us with some
pieces from the work of their young women
students: embroided tablecloths and napkins,
tablemats, colored aprons, cushions, cards made
of "Antaimuro" paper. Sister Valerie
also sends us Malagasy specific handicraft, in
particular wooden crafts: carved pens pipes,
rosewood paper knifes, carved boxes, toys, trays,
... And utensils made of Zebu horn: salad spoons,
spoons, cups, ...
|
 |
 |
All
are beautiful, odd, and useful! That is why,
evenly, we organize sales, during trade fairs,
exhibitions, ... These handicrafts are very
successful, the whole profit is given back to the
center of women promotion and to the free health
center. It is the "equitable trade" of
Nirina. Take notice of the dates of the next sales! Samples of
the Malagasy handicrafts we sell are presented in
the Treasure box. If
you are interested in something, please, do not
hesitate to contact
us !
